@crowjonah 1. I try to avoid using “he” as a gender-neutral pronoun.
@crowjonah 2. There are any number of workarounds, including pluralizing the subject to warrant a “they” (if you follow me).
@crowjonah 3. Lots of “he or she” is tedious.
4. Setting the likes of “s/he” is hideous.
@crowjonah 5. I am not a fan of the so-called “singular ‘they,'” but some people have embraced it.
@crowjonah 6. I’ve set myself the challenge of writing without a single “he” or “she” that is not properly attached to a male or female.
@crowjonah 7. It’s an interesting challenge.
Those are my thoughts.
@crowjonah 4a. Alternating between “he” and “she” is dizzying.
@BCDreyer @crowjonah I actually like/frequently use both of these, but I know I’m in the minority with that.
@BCDreyer @crowjonah what about the always problematic Everyone please bring his/her/their chair to the table type situation.
@PippinParker @crowjonah For me, “everyone” (though not “anyone”) pairs properly with “they” and “their.”
@BCDreyer @crowjonah wow. Radical!
